Puppy Anyone?

My wife went camping with some friends last weekend and took up with a little female pup that someone had set out. She brought it home (no choice there) but we really can't keep it. We already have a coon dog and 2 Huskies. We just can't handle another dog.

She doesn't look like she will get too big and she is adorable and friendly as can be. We took her and got her shots. We also called PAWS, they said that they're next adoption is in about 2 weeks. They were nice but not as much help as I had hoped.

I flat refuse to see her go to the pound or be abandoned.

Anybody got a suggestion or can help I'd appreciated it. I'd post a pic but don't have a camera, etc.

The dogs that are taken in by PAWS go into foster homes until they are adopted out (usually through adoption events). There are only so many foster homes to go around - they're all volunteers. (Lots of folks seem to think PAWS has some central no-kill shelter location, but the reality is its just the homes of folks willing to help out.)

Unfortunately it's puppy season, and folks without enough sense to spay/neuter are now dumping all those unwanted litters.

If you can hang on to it for just two more weeks until the next adoption event PAWS may be able to get it adopted out then.

I got rid of a pup once by hangin a flyer at several vets offices, they said people call there all the time lookin for pupps, sure enough in a couple weeks, he was gone...

My wife is the expert on that. She says it's a border collie spaniel mix.

So the little one is a product of a neighboorhood indiscretion? Mutts make the best dogs.

Very presumptuous!
I've fostered 2 furless dogs within the last year.
There are dogs with fewer than 4 legs in our foster care group.
One of my own dogs doesn't have floppy ears.
And ...not all dogs have tails!
